Khmer country in the delta
Bicycles, a homestay and the brick kilns
A night with a delta family, a cruise past the floating fish farms, and Mang Thit — the kingdom of red brick, where the kilns still line the canals. More local life than sightseeing, which is the point.
Day by day
South, then bicycles along village paths under the coconut palms, into homes and small workshops, and a short boat to Binh Hoa Phuoc island. You help cook dinner at the homestay.
An hour's cruise past the fish farms to Mang Thit, where the brick and tile kilns stand along the water. A walk or ride through the village for the brick-making, tile-firing and bamboo weaving, then on to Can Tho.
The largest floating market in the delta, with the goods still advertised on poles above the boats, then the drive back.
